A Note on Admissions Decisions…
The middle of December brings cooler weather, holiday gatherings, and admission results. Over the past several weeks, many colleges have released decisions to students who applied Early Decision and Early Action.
Although we hope for only acceptances, deferrals, denials, and waitlists are not uncommon. A deferral means that your application will be assessed again during the Regular Decision review process, and you will hear the decision later this year. If you are deferred, you should follow the school's directions. Some will allow for a LOCI (Letter of Continued Interest) where you highlight all the accomplishments over the last several months. Waitlists typically occur during the round of Regular Decision results. Waitlists indicate the college has completed reviewing your file, and you have not been offered an acceptance. However, if enough accepted students choose not to attend, you could be considered for admission.
Lastly, remember that no matter what happens with admissions, you are the same person before and after a college makes a decision. You are smart, capable, and worthy. Simply put- do not let a college decision determine your self-worth!
This is just one step in your journey toward an incredible future!
